Alison Sharkey
🚀About Me
I'm a project management consultant specializing in instructional design, looking to make the pivot from in-person service based work to more collaborative tech team-based assignments and contracts. In addition to being a fully credentialed public school teacher and experienced middle school administrator, I'm also a conservatory trained classical cellist, and a member of the American Federation of Musicians. The intellectual discipline, relationship building, and complex nonverbal communication skills I've honed over a lifetime of professional symphony performances and classroom teaching make me an excellent team player, active listener and creative problem solver. Although I'm CompTIA A+ certified in IT support, analysis, and troubleshooting, my learning path is on track to becoming a full stack software engineer by the end of 2022. I'm currently proficient in entry level JavaScript, completing short coding projects incorporating foundations of HTML and CSS, and feel confident researching and fact-checking on MDN, Slack, Discord, and Stack Overflow. I aspire to someday contribute to the creation of future educational and training apps, but will enjoy any development work intentionally designing solutions that help people in need.
Ideal Workplace Values
To me, the ideal workplace values safety, equality, democracy, inclusion and transparency. I support efforts to advance anti-racism, civil rights, justice, and dignity for all people. Ideally, I would love for all my work to empower and give a voice to the voiceless, innovating new ways to champion empathy, whether for humans, our shared natural environment, or any sentient being currently experiencing neglect, threats, exclusion, or exploitation.

Neuroexceptional Talents
I am able to quickly simplify complex problems and topics into easily digestible, organized instructional materials (including assessments, policies, and press) for business and academic audiences. I have ultra sensitive hearing capabilities, perfect relative pitch, and some professional experiences editing raw audio recordings of classical string music concerts and voiceover narration for CD and film production. During the pandemic, I moved my consulting business online and concurrently upskilled myself in tech, specifically IT support and full stack web development, earning several new certifications across multiple vendors (CompTIA, Odin Project, 100 Devs, Google, Coursera, IBM) and ultimately dedicating over 500 hours of focused study and targeted industry research in just under two years. Currently I work as an Engineering Associate in Data Visualization for a large financial services company in the NYC area, where I have contributed to projects using skills in Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, Workday, Service Now, Python, SQL, and more.
