Job Summary:

The Operations Research Analyst will gather and analyze operations data for the organization, supporting management and leadership in making informed and objective business and policy decisions. The work involves working with a variety of standard problems, questions, or situations according to a set of rules and criteria. The documents you produce or service you perform will affect the design or operation of systems, programs, or equipment; how well things such as field investigations, testing operations, or research conclusions work; or the social, physical, and economic well-being of people.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the handling and analysis of medium sized datasets.
  • Understand and use data relationship structures to improve data analysis.
  • Validate collected data through statistical testing and independent judgement.
  • Evaluate work to make sure it is technically correct, appropriate for the task, and follows the appropriate policies and requirements.
  • Use judgment to interpret and adapt guidelines.
  • Analyze results and recommend changes.
  • Develop data visualizations which can be understood by people who work for the agency, and by people who do not.
  • Prepare and send out or present reports that identify, explain, and evaluate problems and available solutions.
  • Communicate with people who work for the agency, and people who do not, as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Statistical and Data Analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

The right person for this role has the academic, training, certifications, and/or work experience required for statistical analysis and data analysis.

Physical Requirements:

Work is mostly done while sitting. May need to move from place to place within the building for meetings and conferences away from normal work desk. May occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as warehouses and remote facilities.

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and security clearance.
