Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft cloud services through the operation of our unified global datacenters, We have several software engineering teams which build systems and services to help automate and guide different aspects of data center management. This includes construction planning, monitoring cooling systems, monitoring electrical networks, tracking hardware maintenance tasks, physical security, inventory systems, and rack deployment planning. Our software teams work closely with data center technicians, equipment manufacturers, data center design teams, and external partners to ensure that data centers are built quickly, have high availability, operate sustainably, are secure, and have safe working conditions.

The Critical Environment Digital Operations and Procedures Engineering (COPE) team builds applications which manage complex operational procedures for industrial equipment such as air handling units, power distribution units, and generators. Our applications will help ensure that new procedures and safety protocols can be created and used by our technicians. The system we are building will allow subject matter experts to build smart and dynamic procedures which are aware of specific equipment types, datacenter designs, steps previously completed, and equipment readings.
