Jonathan Halquist
He/him
I love to create things! I am a jazz violinist and artist who loves computers and creating digital art. I have spent my life learning to improvise and adapt to spaces and communities that feel uncomfortable to me at first. I have had the great privilege of exploring my interests and taking my time to find what I am good at and enjoy. I always knew that I wanted to pursue software engineering, but it took me a while to find the right avenue to learn and become enveloped in that world. Creating tiny, beautiful things is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Coding and designing a highly functional and good-looking drop down menu is the kind of thing that brings me joy!
Ideal Workplace Values
I have never had an issue adapting to a work environment, even though I can be a little uncomfortable around new people at first. I appreciate people who understand that not everyone is the same in how they communicate, think, or express themselves.

The world is a million tiny pieces to me instead of one big thing which gives me a strong attention to detail. I have a deep love of patterns, especially fractals, and I am inspired by the complexity of nature and natural forms especially when applied to design. I have hyper-focus or flow state come naturally to me when I am working on coding or design projects. I have a very high technical aptitude and ability to learn computer applications from a lifetime of finding tranquility and beauty beyond the computer screen. I picked up 3d modeling, 3d printing, sewing, and circuit board soldering as hobbies in the last decade because I love to create things. My dream is to create a super suit or survival suit one day with active heating and cooling as well as other survival and comfort focused attributes. My hyper-empathy also makes me very adaptable and agreeable.
