Linda McCabe
She/her
I am a highly educated, extremely experienced Administrative Professional who is looking for her next challenge. I am a person who thrives on learning new things, and having a fast-paced, flexible work environment. I always need to be busy, especially doing something with my hands, so a position where I can challenge myself with a variety of different tasks is ideal. At this point in my career, I've done everything in the administrative toolbox at some point, and that has honed me into a "jack of all trades" who can get dropped into a situation or problem, calm it down, and come up with an answer or a compromise. I excel at relationship-building; I think it's one of my strongest skills along with being able to pivot easily from one task to the other. I learn new skills, programs, processes very quickly. I often joke it's one of my "superpowers", along with being able to cut things down to fit into word counts while still keeping the author's voice. My goal is to always leave a position or organization better than I found it, which I'm proud to say I have done. Creating processes, making things run more efficiently, organizing chaos, herding cats (cough cough, professors, cough cough), all things I find rewarding and that I am very successful at. Personally, I'm a geek, a nerd, a music lover, an avid knitter and crafter, a book lover, and a complete planner nerd. I osmose pop culture like a sponge and have been called "the Meme Queen" by colleagues more than once, because there are times when humor is very important, especially when you are dealing with difficult subjects on a daily basis. I've found knitting, especially, to be a great mental health activity, and helps me focus in, especially during long meeting, as it keeps my hands busy (a key part of my neurodivergence). My goal is to find a position that will let me both do what I do best in helping my principal(s) do their job to the best of their ability, while still providing me with the opportunity to grow and evolve as a person. I'd love to find a position where I can grow into a Chief of Staff role over time. I could go on and on about my passions (info dumping is definitely a thing for me), and they are many and varied, but I'll end with this. I can get along with just about anyone, I can build lasting relationships with a wide variety of people. I'm very good at seeing other's neurodivergence and working with that to better the organization as a whole. I think humor goes to building an organizational culture that sees its employees as a whole person, where everyone is given basic respect. This is an important subject for me, and one that I've been able to develop at Disability Rights Texas, especially. Part of my role is supporting our internal workgroups, especially those around Culture building. As such, I've helped develop our first Employee Resource Groups, personally founding and co-chairing two of them. TLDR: Kickass, highly intelligent Executive Assistant who will organize and run your office with efficiency and empathy. And probably knit you something along the way.
Ideal Workplace Values
My ideal workplace is one where empathy and flexibility are prioritized along with efficiency and productivity. A workplace where all employees, stakeholders, and clients/customers are treated with respect. Collaboration, relationship building, and continual learning are also values that I rate highly in a workplace. I love a fast-paced environment where I have a variety of different tasks, and most days are not the same. As someone who always has to be busy, and doing something with my hands especially, that sort of environment is ideal. Continual opportunities to challenge myself and to develop my professional skills is also ideal. The ability to grow, both as a person and an Administrative Professional, is also very important to me.

Due to my neurodivergence, I'm able to multitask very efficiently and pivot easily from one task to another without losing a step. I am very good at problem solving, dealing with emerging issues and crises, and I learn very quickly, all of which make me uniquely able to handle all the inevitable "fires" that need to be put out whenever humans are involved. I always have to be busy, so a fast-paced environment is optimal, especially one where every day is different. Having a variety of different tasks keeps me happy and engaged. I am highly analytical and adept at thinking strategically. In my current position, I help create agency culture through supporting and leading internal workgroups and strategic planning initiatives. I also handle reporting needs and editing tasks for Mutiple project areas. Also, among my superpowers is the ability to edit for length, content and readability. I am a voracious reader who has been reading multiple books at since elementary school and have been editing the work of others since I was a TA in graduate school. The need to be continually learning is very integral to my character, and it also helps me connect and engage with a wide variety of people.
